While still signed to Jive, Mystikal left Big Boy for No Limit Records in 1996. Mystikal appeared on many of the No Limit albums released from 1997 to 1999. After signing to Jive Records, he released his 1995 album Mind of Mystikal, which primarily consisted of songs that had featured on his debut. Mystikal released his self-titled debut album in 1994 on independent label Big Boy Records and found himself in conflict with fellow New Orleans rappers signed to Cash Money Records including U.N.L.V., B.G., and Lil Wayne.
